Garages on suburban blocks
Most of our metropolitan work is a garage, carport or garaport on a house block, where the design question is siting: height, length along the boundary and distance from the neighbour's windows. Each council has its own rules on top of the state siting standards (Brisbane's small-lot code, for example, prevails on lots under 450 m²), and your certifier can seek a referral where a design needs an alternative setback.

Each council has its own flood rules
Brisbane, Ipswich and Logan all publish lot-level flood information and set floor levels differently; Brisbane sets the minimum habitable floor at the 1% AEP flood level plus 0.5 m. For a garage or shed, the flood level decides the slab height; for a house, a raised steel floor system is often the simplest way to reach it.
