Classification and approvals
Under the National Construction Code, a warehouse used for storage is typically Class 7b and a building used for production, assembly or repairs is Class 8. Those classifications bring fire-safety, access and energy requirements that a residential shed never meets, and the building is assessed under NCC Volume One.
Most commercial and industrial buildings need a building approval from a certifier, and depending on the zone and the council's planning scheme they may also need a planning approval. Check the zoning and overlays for the lot early, then send us the address with the brief.
Wind and structure
Wind actions are determined to AS/NZS 1170.2 or AS 4055. AS 4055 applies only within set limits on building height and width, so larger sheds and warehouses are engineered for wind to AS/NZS 1170.2 for the actual site.
The framing inside
Site offices, lunch rooms, amenities, store rooms and mezzanine partitions are a different kind of structure from the shell. We make light gauge steel wall frames and roof trusses for them at Crowley Vale and detail them from the same drawings, so openings and heights line up with the building around them.
For standalone commercial buildings, such as offices, medical suites or retail premises, the same wall frames, trusses and floor systems are supplied to your builder or erected by us in Queensland.

Do you build commercial and industrial sheds?
Yes, in Queensland, under Builtwise Group Pty Ltd's QBCC licence 15445275 (Builder – Open). We also supply them as kits for your own licensed builder.
What building class is a warehouse?
A building used for storage is typically Class 7b under the National Construction Code, and a building used for production, assembly or repair is Class 8. Your certifier confirms the classification for the actual use.
Can you frame the office inside the shed?
