Lockyer Sheds supplies builders, developers and trade customers with light gauge steel wall frames, roof trusses and floor systems made to their plans from TRUECORE® steel at Crowley Vale in the Lockyer Valley, plus garages, sheds and industrial buildings as kits or built. Frames arrive labelled to a layout with documentation for the certifier, across South East and Southern Queensland and northern NSW; erection and construction are available in Queensland.

Your plans are the brief
Every frame we make starts from your architectural drawings. We detail each wall panel, truss and floor member from those plans, then send the layouts back to you before anything is roll-formed. If a window size on the elevation disagrees with the floor plan, or a beam pocket is not dimensioned, we raise it at that point rather than guessing and leaving you to fix it on the slab.
That review step is where most site problems are prevented. A frame is only as accurate as the information behind it, so we would rather ask one extra question at detailing than have your carpenter pack out a wall.
Documentation the certifier expects
For houses, the National Construction Code accepts steel framing designed to the NASH Standard or to AS/NZS 4600 as a Deemed-to-Satisfy route. Your frame package comes with the layouts and design documentation that show how it was designed for the site, including the wind classification it was designed to.
We also pass on the installation information that goes with the product. Queensland's chain-of-responsibility rules require suppliers of building products to hand down information about suitable use, limits and installation, so it is part of every job rather than an optional extra.
Garages, sheds and commercial shells
Lockyer Sheds started as a shed company, and it still designs and builds garages, carports, farm sheds and industrial buildings. For builders and developers that means a detached garage on a house job, a garaport on a rural lot or a warehouse shell on a commercial site can be supplied as a kit for your crew, or built by us in Queensland.
Where a shed contains offices or amenities, the internal walls are framed in light gauge steel from the same drawings, so the fit-out lines up with the structure.
Delivery and repeat work
Frames leave our Crowley Vale factory packed in the order they go up, with each panel and truss tagged to match the layout. The delivery date is booked with you once the layouts are signed off. Crowley Vale sits between Toowoomba and Ipswich, which puts the Darling Downs, the Lockyer Valley, Somerset and the Brisbane and Logan corridor within the same delivery run; northern NSW is supplied on a supply-and-delivery basis.
If you build the same few designs across a year, the detailing done for the first one is the starting point for the next. Tell us which plan you are repeating and what has changed. You can use your own licensed crew, or in Queensland ask us to erect the frames under the QBCC licence held by Builtwise Group Pty Ltd, the company behind Lockyer Sheds.
Builders, developers and trade: common questions
Do you only supply licensed builders?
No. Builders are our main framing customers, but we also supply developers, owner-builders with a QBCC owner-builder permit, modular builders, commercial contractors and homeowners. The process is the same: plans or a brief first, then a quote.
Can you supply frames for a plan we build repeatedly?
Yes. Tell us which job the new one repeats and what differs. Site wind classification, handing and openings are the usual changes, and each job still gets its own layouts and documentation.
Do you erect the frames or just supply them?
Both options are available in Queensland. We can supply the kit for your crew, or erect it under the QBCC licence held by Builtwise Group Pty Ltd (licence 15445275). In northern NSW we supply and deliver only.
Can you supply the garage or shed on the same job?
Yes. Garages, carports, sheds and industrial buildings are supplied as kits or built by us in Queensland, and can be quoted alongside the house frame.
How soon can you deliver?
Delivery timing depends on the size of the job and our production schedule when the layouts are approved, so we confirm it per job rather than quote a standard lead time. Send plans early and we can book around your slab date.
