Queensland rules that affect your building
Most sheds, garages and carports need a building approval from a building certifier; some small structures are exempt under the Building Regulation 2021, and some lots also need planning approval from the council. We check this for your lot before quoting.
Queensland applies NCC 2022 to building work until 1 May 2027, when NCC 2025 takes effect. Steel framing is accepted under the NCC when designed to the NASH Standard or AS/NZS 4600.
Designing and manufacturing wall frames and roof trusses off site is not “building work” under the QBCC Regulation, but erecting them is, so the crew that stands the frame needs the right QBCC licence. Owner-builders need a QBCC permit for work over $11,000 before starting.
