Steel frame manufacturing at Crowley Vale
Lockyer Sheds roll-forms steel wall frames, roof trusses and floor members from TRUECORE® steel coil at its factory at 2 Harm Drive, Crowley Vale, in Queensland's Lockyer Valley. Members are formed to the job's design data, pre-punched for services, labelled with part codes and assembled into panels and trusses before delivery.

From coil to member
Light gauge members start as steel strip in coil. On the roll-forming line the strip is fed through a series of roll stages that shape it into the section, then cut to length. The Australian Steel Institute describes this cold-forming process for light gauge steel generally.
Our line runs on the design data from your job, so each member is formed and cut for its place in your frame, rather than to stock lengths trimmed on site.
Punched and labelled
Service holes are punched as members are formed, so plumbers and electricians have runs through the frame without drilling steel on site.
Each member and each assembled panel or truss carries its part code. The same codes appear on the layout drawings and the packing list, which is how a frame goes from the factory floor to the right place on your slab.
Repeat designs and modules
Because the line runs from design data, a design that has been detailed once can be made again for the next lot or the next module. Developers building the same duplex or townhouse design on several sites get the same components each time, with part codes that match the same drawings.
For modular builders the same applies to floor bases, wall panels and roof trusses sized for a module. Tell us the module dimensions and how modules will be moved so the design allows for it before the first set is made.
Before a job goes on the line
A job is scheduled for manufacture once the layout drawings have been checked and confirmed. That confirmation is the last point where changes are simple, so it pays to check window sizes, wall positions and ceiling heights against the latest approved plans.
If the plans change after manufacture, affected panels or trusses have to be remade or modified, which costs time on both sides.
The factory
The factory is at 2 Harm Drive, Crowley Vale QLD 4342, in the Lockyer Valley Regional Council area. It is our only manufacturing site: every town on this website is a delivery destination, not a branch.

- TRUECORE® steel is published by BlueScope as G550 (550 MPa minimum yield strength), made to AS 1397:2021 with an AM150 coating. BlueScope marks it for traceability to its source.
- Storage before use
- BlueScope advises using the material within six months to avoid storage-related corrosion, which is one reason frames are made to order rather than stockpiled.
